Entertainment has and always will be big business and the DJ scene seems to have become just as important as the artist. There are DJs whom are more popular than some of the big name artist they may open for or participate with in their shows.
Every year Forbes publishes a list of the top 10 highest paid DJs. Calvin Harris has topped the list again for the 5th year in a row. Unfortunately no female DJs made the list so that’s a different topic, however what are the DJs that made the cut doing differently than any other DJ? Inquiring minds would like to know.
Take a look at the DJs who made the list:
01. Calvin Harris ($48.5m)
02. Tiesto ($39m)
03. The Chainsmokers ($38m)
04. Skrillex ($30m)
05. Steve Aoki ($29.5m)
06. Diplo ($28.5m)
07. David Guetta ($25m)
08. Marshmello ($21m)
09. Martin Garrix ($19.5m)
10. Zedd ($19m)

This ain’t no small potatoes income for spinning records!!
Harris who ranks #1 on the list not only spins in clubs in Las Vegas and tours the country and abroad. He’s also worked with artists like Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Pharrell, Khalid, Frank Oceans and Ne-yo to name a few and even Tiesto who ranks 2nd has remixed Calvin’s track My Way. He has several self-produced albums to his credit to include his most current release Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1. So apparently Calvin is doing something right!
Looks like simply just spinning records isn’t all that has to be done to bring in the numbers that Calvin Harris, Tiesto and others who’ve made the top 10 list. Producing music is the next logical move.
DJs had better get out of their own way and make it happen. They must do something they’ve never done before to put themselves out there and be noticed. If they work their craft right pulling in the big bucks can happen. It won’t be easy but nothing worth working for ever really is!!
Just ask Calvin Harris!!
