Facebook Post Helps Colorado Woman Find Family She Never Knew About

I love reporting positive stories like this one where a woman from Colorado  utilizes Facebook to find the family she never knew about.  How about that?? Facebook can be used for something other than people posting their derrières for the world to see.

Check out this story as reported by NBC 5 Arizona:  a woman whose determination and patience led to a post on Facebook to find her biological father and subsequently found the family she never knew about.

Earhustle411 wishes her all the best finding her peace about the situation.

Facebook helps keep us in touch with friends and family who are far away. It’s also helping to connect a father and daughter who haven’t even met and until last week were completely unaware of each other.

An anonymous letter delivered to Melissa Plessinger’s home in Colorado revealed a truth hidden from her throughout her whole life.

“My mom told me it was true. That Bob wasn’t really my dad and that …I’m trying not to cry. That his name was David Hall,” Plessinger told Denver affiliate KUSA.

Plessinger, 47, went online to track down her biological father. She posted a photo of herself on Facebook on Father’s Day with a sign saying who she was and whom she was searching for.

“It was a blind date. I only knew her mother for three dates at the most,” said David Hall.

Hall awoke Tuesday to see his wife Sandy snapping a picture of their computer screen. One of the couple’s three daughters had found the post and forwarded it to them.

“You know my wife’s standing here of 45 years and I looked over at her and I thought, uh oh,” Hall said.

David Hall, 67, back in the late 60s was an 18-year-old Navy sailor who met Plessinger’s mom on a shore leave. Hall said he knew the girl he briefly dated was pregnant, but by the time he got out of the Navy she had already married and everyone was moving on.

“I told her I was sorry I walked out of her life like that before she was even born,” said Hall.

“I told him he didn’t have to be sorry. I just want to know my family,” said Plessinger.

Two of the Hall’s three daughters met up with Plessinger on Wednesday night in Colorado. It’s been a whirlwind few days for Hall who is hoping to meet her face to face sometime in the next few weeks.

“I know what’s gonna happen. I’m gonna fall down crying. She’s a beautiful girl and she’s mine. I know it,” said Hall.

Interestingly enough, Hall said a similar set of circumstances had befallen him years ago. His own father divorced and left the family when he was only 2 years old.

Only after his biological father had passed away did he meet two brothers and a sister he never knew he had.
