TIME recently unveiled its much-awaited list of most notable public figures who have made an impact in the world because of their innovations or contributions in their chosen field. One of the first few names unveiled by TIME on social media were power couple Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan.
TIME’s 100 Most Influential People is an annual list of the big names in the world – including world leaders, great minds in science and technology, outstanding figures in the arts, and other icons with huge contributions in a specific year.
On Wednesday (April 22, 2016), TIME bared an Instagram photo of the two tech titans together with a summary of their story that was written by business magnates Bill and Melinda Gates, who have also contributed a lot in technology.
“We admire Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg’s vision of an interconnected world where all people have a chance to make the most of their talents,” wrote Bill and Melinda, who dubbed Zuckerberg and Chan as “The future of giving”.
TIME provided further details about the monochrome photo of the couple, saying: “Mark Zuckerberg (@zuck) and Priscilla Zuckerberg-Chan, photographed here in San Francisco on April 8, 2016, are among TIME’s 100 most influential people this year.” The photo was taken by Ben Hassett.
Zuckerberg is widely known as the Chief Executive Officer of social networking site Facebook, while Chan has made her own name as a pediatrician. Although they have earned a lot on their own, the influential couple uses much of their wealth to help finance researches for advancements in society.
According to TIME, the two have created the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and committed “99% of their wealth to taking on challenges like improving education, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities.”
Meanwhile, on Facebook, Zuckerberg expressed that he’s “looking forward to the world getting to know the strong, kind, compassionate person” that is his wife.
“Most days Priscilla works outside the spotlight in the hospital or the classroom. This is the first time she’s on the cover of a magazine,” he wrote on his Facebook account on Friday, together with a photo of TIME magazine.
Other names that made it to TIME 100’s Titans are as follows: Tim Cook, Binny Bansal and Sachin Bansal, Yuri Milner, Mohammed bin Nayef, Katie Ledecky, Dwayne Johnson, Pope Francis, Sundar Pichai, Wang Jianlin, Kathleen Kennedy, Eli Broad, and Stephen Curry.
