Chicago – Last month Ear Hustle 411 had the honor and pleasure of covering the ” Laugh Out Loud Sweetest Day Extravaganza ” at The Ethiopian Diamond II Restaurant in Evanston, IL.

This event was spectacular and hosted by none other than Comedian Mark Simmons and his incredible wife Robin Simmons.  Robin stated that she and her husband put this event together to fill a void that was missing, “We need more urban entertainment on the north-side and we met that need”

 

Legendary Comedian Leon Rogers, WGCI radio personality, Dj and actor headlined this extraordinary event.  There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when he took the stage due to all the laughter. He brought the house down when he talked about winning the game tickets at Chuck E Cheese and how the kids and parents reacted when their children didn’t win.  The audience was incredible, they were able to relate to many of the jokes fueled by the comedians and let it be known by the audience participation.  Leon Rogers is one to be reckoned with.

 

Local Comedian Kenny Johnson took to the mic as a first timer.  Being an amateur act,  he held his own.  He appeared a little shaky at first but once he got comfortable and got a feel for the audience he let them have it. Kenny cracked a joke about using a link card where he proudly displayed one in his hand. He was funny and extremely likable as a first timer he did a fantastic job.

 

Erica Clark the only female comedian had an adult theme to her jokes which had the ladies on their feet full of laughter and Cheers. The audience could relate to her as well and showed their appreciation.  She was warm, funny with a great sense of humor; she also had an uncanny ability to connect with everyone in the room.

She was over the top with her jokes.  She was definitely holding her own and kept the crowd in tune with her.  Erica stated she’s pretty new to the scene; She did Second City for three years as well as stand up for three years, it certainly showed in her skills because she was fearless.

 

In between acts, DJ Henry Doby kept the music spinning and the crowd hyped. he played a little old school mixed with a little new school and hand the room pumped.

 

Ear Hustle 411 had a fantastic time and enjoyed the show immensely.  On November 29,  2014  Mark and Robin Simmons will be hosting another comedy show event at The Ethiopian Diamond II.  This will be an ultimate affair.  This is a must see event that you don’t want to miss.
