EarHustle411 Invades The 18th Annual Chicago Football Classic

Earhustle411 was invited back for a second time to cover the Annual Historic Black Colleges Universities (HBCU) Chicago football classic at the historic Solider Field. This year, Morgan State and Howard face-off on the field for what was a great game. Morgan State comes out with the win, but the classic is more than just a football game. EarHustle411’s newest family members Chillis and NikalSlik along with media correspondent SunShyne were blessed to be around while current students and alumni gathered together for tailgating and reuniting with friends from other universities.

Black Lettered Greek Sororities and Fraternities, Alums from Howard and Morgan State along with their children were having a blast grilling some good eats in the parking lots around Soldier Field, we were invited to share a meal with a local bar owner of the Blue Monkey located in Indiana and he shared stories with us about his college days.

The game isn’t the only reason people fill the seats every year. The battle of the bands, another yearly event at the classic had everyone out there seats asking for more. The high school students and future students to these colleges even had their chance to shine on the main stage with their battle of the bands. High schools around the Chicagoland area and suburbs were invited to show off their bands also giving their students a chance to see how college bands face-off. Congratulations to the Rich South High School Band from Richton Park, IL. They were the big winners of the high school Battle of the Bands.

As the EarHustle411 staff made their way through the venue, we were blessed to be in the presence of a few of the people who are responsible for making the Chicago Football Classic a great event to attend. We had a brief conversation with Don Jackson from Central City Productions and as always he was very welcoming and glad to see us contributing our services to one of the best collegiate games to be played at Soldier Field.

Morgan State University kicked butt during the game and came out with the victory but Howard won the hearts of the crowd with the battle of the bands. Every year the Chicago Football Classic bless some lucky patron with a BRAND NEW car and this year it was sponsored by Chrysler (we got raffle tickets) and the winner was…..well we will have to keep trying.

EarHustle411 and the writing staff would like to thank everyone involved in making the Chicago Football Classic an awesome event for the last 18 years. Thank to Damon Smith, The Rands, Don Jackson, Soldier Field staff, Howard University, Morgan State University and ESPN for rolling out the red carpet. We had a BLAST and will be back next year if they will have us.

Enjoy the footage we’ve gathered from the Classic and we hope to see you next year!!!
