Legendary hip Hop pioneer, philanthropist, motivational speaker, CEO of Sunni Gyrl, Inc and founder of the Hip Hop Sisters Foundation MC Lyte has received numerous awards throughout her career.  On October 7, 2016 at the Hutchins Center on the campus of Harvard University, the woman who has been dubbed the “God Mother of Hip Hop” by her good friend and fellow female MC peer Queen Latifah received the prestigious W.E.B. Du Bois Medal for her outstanding work as an artist and activist.  A well-deserved award just in time for her birthday.

Lana ‘MC Lyte’ Moorer or simply “Lyte” as she often called having been in the entertainment business since age 14 has been blazing the trail and setting the standards by which aspiring other female MCs follow in the industry.  Lyte uses her experiences, knowledge and expertise of the music industry to mentor aspiring artist as well as constantly traveling the globe sharing the message of the importance of education by informing students of her memories growing up in a household where her mother was an educator.  Lyte’s path to greatness is has been a long road however EarHustle411 is certain that her humble demeanor, willingness to train and mentor and having her feet firmly planted and grounded by her faith and love for God is the reason she has maintained relevance all the many years.  She shows no signs of slowing down and we expect many more prestigious accolades to come her way.
