As the Hot Mix 5 crew prepares for their 35th Anniversary Reunion Festival on June 11, 2016 at Chicago’s McCormick Place, they decided to takeover downtown’s Daley Plaza for just one hour!! Now that’s what EarHustle411 calls a BOSS move. The King of House Farley ‘Jackmaster’ Funk, Scott ‘Smokin’ Silz, Mickey ‘Mixin’ Oliver and Kenny ‘Jammin’ Jason (Ralphi ‘The Razz’ Rosario was not in attendance) along with event promoter extraordinaire Tony Rosales posted up at Daley Plaza and played the best of ‘house’ music under the blistering sun. But the househeads did not have a care in the world as they descended upon Daley Plaza and dance their lunch hour away.
The Hot Mix 5 even had some fellow DJs come out and spend a moment with them like The Chosen Few’s Alan King, iHeart Media WVAZ’s Eric ‘ET’ Taylor, First Lady and her husband of SiriusFM’s Foxxhole Mixologist Hugo Hutchinson, and Ron Carroll to name a few. Even the longtime quintessential househead Angie Peña made her way to support the Hot Mix 5 as well as some other die-hard househeads like Samuel Johnson and EarHustle411 fan Uniquely Gifted. If the reunion is anything like what the Hot Mix 5 displayed at Daley Plaza, we had better get our backs and knees into shape.

EarHustle411 and the writing staff can hardly wait until the Hot Mix 5’s 35th Anniversary Reunion Festival, we will be there working as part of the official media team and getting our house on too. We want to thank Scott ‘Smokin’ Silz and Tony Rosales and the members of the Hot Mix 5 for their gracious hospitality.
