Dallas Man Allegedly Submerged His 10 Month Old Daughter In Hot Water

Police have arrested a 24-year-old Wilmer man after they say he burned his 10-month-old daughter in hot water.

Michael Xavier Hall told police that he accidentally knocked a pot of hot water off the stove and onto the girl, who was at his feet, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. But police said the girl’s burns could only come from being submerged in hot water, not from being splashed with it.

The girl’s mother told police she was at work when Hall called her around 2 p.m. Thursday to say that the girl had been burned. He told her the story about knocking the water off the stove, she said.

The mother told police that when she went home, she saw a large Tupperware bowl filled with water on the counter, but none on the floor. And the girl was wearing a dry diaper, she told police. She called 911.

Wilmer police later arrested Hall, who told them the burn was an accident. He said he immediately filled the sink with water and ice and put the girl in it after she was burned. He also told detectives that he didn’t clean up the water and there were no other containers of water in the kitchen areas.

Police said the girl’s “feet injuries appeared to be obvious to a hot liquid submersion.” The burns were consistent on both legs, not random, and that there were no splash wounds, police said. You can learn more to know what are the legal actions that can be taken in such cases or any injury case.

Hall has been charged with injury to a child, a third-degree felony. He is being held in Dallas County jail in lieu of $115,000 bail.
