I must say I have to give props to Bill Weir from CNN for his work on this mini documentary with the rap duo Clipse.  In the short 15 minutes video I was able to really get a grasp on what the two brothers has gone through and what they are still going through.  They both paid the ultimate price for the fame they achieved.  The real question to ask is was it worth it?  For one of the brothers he made the choice to walk away from dismal industry that made he and his brother famous. A choice that only could be orchestrated by God and a decision that his brother was given no warning but was forced to be fine with. Clipse member Gene “Malice” Thornton now referred to as “No Malice” saw the bright light that had shone on his wayward ways of selling dope to his rise to stardom and dang near losing his family and all for what to maintain an image, to have money in your pockets only to wake up unhappy.  Terrence “Pusha T” Thornton the other half of the duo still is on the side of the music fence and from what I could tell from the footage he is maintaining but is nowhere near the status he was prior to his brother deciding to throw in the towel.  Is it true that the hip hop industry is the only genre that eats its babies? I would have to say I agree with that and it is truly unfortunate that the industry exploits the ill wills of the world and direct markets it to the youth but does not want to take any accountability when tragic events occur due to the subliminal messages that are a direct result of how young people are desensitized to the effects of street life. So what does the future have in store for the duo?  Is there a Clipse reunion in the cards? Well, I guess you’ll just have to check out the documentary and see for yourself.  One thing I can say is that the music industry is like NASCAR; your car had better prepared to run the race and win it or get left behind. I often wonder do majority of artist in the music industry have this same feeling about their profession.  Do they ever just want to walk away from it and why they don’t?  Could it be because of fear, loss of status or the possibility of not having a relevancy in this world?  Well I you think about it is the same concept when an artist fails to succeed on a 2nd or 3rd project.  The only difference is one option you make by choice and the other the choice is made for you via the powers that be at the label or in public opinion.
