Chicago Police Shoots And Kill An 18 Year Old Robbery Suspect On The City’s South Side

Per WGN News,  An 18-year-old male is dead after an officer-involved shooting in the city’s South Shore neighborhood.

The shooting happened at 7:30 p.m. Thursday after police spotted a stolen car near 74th and Merrill.

The Jaguar was stolen from Bolingbrook earlier in the evening.

According to police, as officers got out to confront the driver, he put the car in drive and side-swiped a squad car and a parked car. That’s when at least two officers fired.

Officers then continued to follow the fleeing offender.

He was eventually transported to an area hospital where he later died.

Officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Chicago police and the Independent Police Review Authority are still investigating .

The officers involved will be placed on administrative duties for 30 days per department policy.
