Police are investigating after a woman was fatally shot just blocks from U.S. Cellular Field.
The 30-year-old victim was sitting in the back seat of a car near 38th and Princeton when someone opened fire around 9:45 p.m. Friday, police said. She suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was transported to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the car belongs to a driver who operates a neighborhood car service. The driver and passenger did not know each other. The driver was not injured in the shooting.
No one is in custody.
