Police and SWAT teams were called to a high-rise apartment building in the South Loop Monday night following a domestic incident.

Police were called to a building in the 1100 block of South Michigan Avenue about 7:40 p.m. for a domestic situation, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

A male then barricaded himself inside the apartment and refused to come out, prompting SWAT teams to be called to the building. The male, whose age was not immediately available, appeared to be the only person inside the apartment, police said.

About 11:30 p.m., officers and SWAT teams remained on the scene. About 15 police vehicles were parked outside the high-rise, which was located at 1130 S. Michigan Ave.
