The Sorors of Delta Sigma has been working diligently all year collecting school supplies and book bags in support of the Organization’s national service project Operation Big Bookbag.   This service project designed for organization chapters to donate school supplies to local schools prior to the beginning of the school year.  In past experiences, chapters have learned that the need is not just at the beginning of the school year and several chapters has expanded their giving of supplies to include giving after the new year.

Sigma Gamma Rho has been consumed, overwhelmed as well as grief-stricken about the loss of Soror Sandra Bland.  Participating in the parade and getting back to serving the community was a welcomed break .  Sandra’s death shook the entire organization’s spirit to the core.  However, under the leadership of Soror Havard-Dew, she has charged the members of Delta Sigma chapter to commit to serving the community in an unrestricted capacity regardless of what is going on in the streets because at the end of the day the children are part of those communities in which the chapter serves and they deserve a fair shot at a better life.
