Waller County, TX-  The Attorneys representing the Sandra Bland family have revealed that their client has reached a civil suit settlement.

The attorney Cannon Lambert, has confirmed via eyewitness news that there was a wrongful death lawsuit which has been settled for 1.9 million dollars.

Due to the state statutes, the settlement with the Texas Department of safety was capped and will pay $100K.  We know many people would be wondering why such a low amount but every state has different rules and certain maximums that has to be adhered too.

The Waller County Jail however will pay a flat settlement of $1.8 million dollars to the Bland Family.  There were also other demands that were a requirement as part of the settlement.

Sandra Blands mother Geneva Reed-Veal also says she wants the Waller County Jail to provide emergency nurses on all shifts and to monitor cells by using electronic sensors to determine exact check in.

Bland was stopped for allegedly failing to signal a proper lane change on July 10, 2015 . Her reason for being in Texas from her home in Naperville, Illinois was because she was scheduled for an interview at Prairie View A&M University.

While incarcerated, Sandra Bland was found unresponsive in her jail cell.  She was later pronounced dead on July 13, 2015.  Her death was ruled a suicide caused by asphyxiation.
