BREAKING NEWS: 2 Wedding Guests Arrested After Accidental Gunfire At Waldorf-Astoria Hotel Reception

Two Brooklyn men are facing charges after a shot was accidentally fired in the lobby of the historic Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

42-year old Vladimir Gotlibovsky is charged with tempering with physical evidence, reckless endangerment and assault with criminal negligence.

Police say his gun discharged inside the hotel as a wedding was taking place. But exactly what caused the shot was unclear.

51-year old Felix Gotlibovsky is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence.

It was supposed to be a fairy tale wedding at the famed hotel, until gunfire quickly turned the celebration into chaos on Saturday evening.

Police say one of the wedding guests had a gun in his pocket, and it accidentally went off while taking pictures during a reception in the lobby shortly before 7:30 p.m.

The bullet ricocheted, and struck a 55-year-old woman in the head. She was taken to a nearby hospital, and is expected to be okay.

4 others, a 59-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman, a 45-year-old woman and another person who was not identified were injured and taken to area hospitals. They were all hit by shattered glass or debris.

The man who carried the gun was quickly detained, and taken in for questioning. It is not clear whether he will face any charges. Investigators say three other guests were also being questioned at the precinct.

One guest, who talked with Eyewitness News off-camera says the bride and groom had not even been officially been married yet when the gunfire rang out.

After the melee, the hotel allowed the couple and the guests to continue with the religious ceremony part of their wedding, but everyone was asked to leave shortly after 10 p.m.

The guest who Eyewitness News spoke with continued to say the bride was distraught, along with many guests who had to be detained, as the hotel suddenly became a crime scene.
