BOWIE, Md. (WUSA9) — The fraternity at the center of a hazing lawsuit filed by a Bowie State University student says the school’s chapter has been placed on a “cease and desist”.
Alpha Phi Alpha released a statement in response to allegations of hazing by Kevin Hayes, who claims he was punched, hit, slapped, body slammed and paddled while pledging the fraternity.
A photo shared with WUSA9 shows bruising on Hayes’s buttocks. We are not showing the photo in its entirety, but here is part of the bruising.
According to the statement, the fraternity is currently investigating and “Any member found violating the fraternity anti-hazing policy will be immediately suspended with recommendation for expulsion.”
The lawsuit names two men specifically, and claims that other Alpha Phi Alpha members who participated in the alleged hazing were wearing masks.
