Wilson at that time has been named Chicago top high school player in the country, a ranking many a sport athletes strive to achieve.  While the circumstances surrounding Benji’s death unfortunately are still happening today some 31 years later however it’s still is a wonderful thing to finally induct Benji into the Illinois High School Basketball Hall of Fame Museum.   It is LONG OVERDUE!!

This announcement was spotted by EarHustle411 on Facebook, posted by his brother Jeff Wilson followed by the hashtag #25, which was Benji’s number on the Simeon Wolverines Basketball team.  The induction ceremony was scheduled to take place at the Hilton Garden Inn located in Champaign, IL, home of the University of Illinois Fighting Illini.

U of I, Champaign-Urbana was one of the schools Wilson was considering attending prior to his untimely death.   Ben’s achievements and legacy has been discussed on many a program including ESPN and other sports programs but one piece of footage that hit home was a Nike commercial produced in 1997 that truly made a statement.
