Lee Daniels needs your help.

The director of “The Butler” is looking for extras for his new Fox series “Empire,” which is set in New York but will film in Chicago. According to the “Empire” extras Facebook page, the hip-hop drama will film from early September until the end of February and is casting real bartenders and servers, real back-up dancers for a rap video scene and real media (reporters, cameramen, photographers).

The New York-set ”Empire” needs club patrons of all ethnicities in their 20s and 30s for club scenes around Sept. 12 or Sept. 15. The show is also casting mothers 35 to 50 years old to play protesters.

“Empire” filmed its pilot in Chicago in March. The show stars Terrence Howard (“Hustle and Flow”) as a street hustler-turned-record label head named Lucious Lyon. Taraji P. Henson (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) plays Lyon’s ex-wife, Cookie Lyon.
