An African-American Behavioral Therapist Is Shot While Hands Up As He Is Trying To Protect His Autistic Patient

An African-American Man by the name of Charles Kinsey who is a professional Behavioral Therapist was shot by North Miami Police while his hands were extended in the air.  The man is trying to help a confused autistic patient who ran away from a group home who was mistaken for a suspect wielding a gun.

You can hear the gentleman say, “all he has is a toy truck, I am a Behavioral Specialist at a group home”.  He is also pleading with his patient to lay down on his stomach.  You can hear him say, Rinaldo, Please be still. Rinaldo, lay on your stomach.”

With both hands raised, the police still shot him for no apparent reason.  When he asked to police why did he shoot him, the police said, ” I don’t know”.

They handcuffed him and the patient anyway and as Charles lay bleeding, they flipped him on his stomach.

According to North Miami police spokeswoman Natalie Buissereth, officers “attempted to negotiate” with the men and Kinsey was eventually shot in the leg.
