Not a lot of people are standing up for Bill Cosby these days, but at least he can count on his alleged former mistress to have his back.

Teresa Taylor, who claims she had a relationship with the comedy icon for three years starting in 1979, says she doesn’t believe the forty-plus women who have come forth with allegations of misconduct, despite the fact that Cosby copped to buying Quaaludes for the purpose of drugging women for sex, and even actually giving the drug to a 19-year-old girl in Las Vegas.

“What I’ve seen happening in the press about him is so disheartening. He is a kind man. I have never spoken about my personal life before and I needed to say that,” she tells FOX411. “Do I believe half of the women? No.”

Taylor’s reason for siding with Cosby? A man of his stature wouldn’t need to resort to using drugs for sex.

“I respect the women and I can’t dispute it but I don’t believe a lot of it,” she said. “He didn’t need to do anything to get women to sleep with him. Women are attracted to men with money and power. At the time he was one of the most powerful men in Hollywood.”

The former actress claims she met Cosby backstage while he was guest hosting The Tonight Show in 1979. She was 19 at the time. Taylor caught the much-older star’s attention and he invited her out to dinner, kicking off a three-year affair which included double dates with Cosby’s pal Hugh Hefner and the Playboy mogul’s then girlfriend Barbi Benton.

“He was so respectful towards me,” Taylor said. “He never drugged me or offered me Quaaludes. I was young and he took care of me – sometimes financially. He was good to my family. My mom had pictures of Bill all over the house. My mother knew I was alone in Hollywood and I believe she felt safe knowing Cosby was there for me.”

Taylor says, at the time, they were in love and she believed they had a future. “I didn’t even know the word mistress,” she said. “I actually believed he would leave his wife for me but they never leave.” Cosby’s wife Camille Cosby, she says, willfully turned a blind eye to the relationship. “She knew,” Taylor says. “She chose not to acknowledge it.”

Cosby is currently facing multiple civil suits from several of the women who have accused him of rape and sexual assault, and could potentially be investigated for criminal charges if one accuser, Chloe Goins, presses charges this year, before the statute of limitations expires on her claim that Cosby sexually abused her at the Playboy mansion in 2008.
