8 Month Old Baby Dies After Her Mother And Boyfriend Beat Her With A Belt

Police say an 8-month-old baby girl has died after allegedly being beaten by her mother and mother’s boyfriend, both of whom are in custody.

Shavone Whitehead, 24, and Edward Wilson, 33, have been charged with aggravated battery and cruelty to children. Police say those charges could be updated.

Kamoni Love Whitehead was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston where she was initially on life support. Brookhaven police confirmed to CBS46 Sunday morning that the child died around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Police say the abuse occurred at a home in the 1800 block of Corporate Boulevard. Officers were sent to the home to a call of an unconscious infant. Police say they observed bruises on the baby’s body that was consistent with child abuse.
