7/11 Clerks Refuses to Sell A Bag Of Chips To African Americans; Elderly White Woman Pays For Chips For Them [ VIDEO]

A 7/11 clerk in Alexandria Virginia refuses to sell bags of chips to African American customer for no apparent  reason .  They did however sell the same bag of chips to an older Caucasian female who was irate at the treatment of the black customers.

This lady was so disgusted by the way the three clerks treated the black customers that she threatened to call their corporate headquarters.

The fact still remains, why would these African-American Customers accept the bag of chips and why would they stay in the store patronizing the store while others were being disrespected.

It appears that the little boy would not have any chips if the elderly white customer didn’t pay for it.

Im sure several blacks do business there. If racism is definitely the reason (I say this because the clerks seem to be north east african – ethiopian or somalian), then all black people need to stop doing business there…plain and simple.

You are right. some places fire employees for doing a good deed and some places keep employees when they do an injustice. Funny eh?

After reading this statement, the video makes a bit more sense.

This statement doesn’t even make sense. If they are on camera stealing and the police are looking for them well they are in the store why wasnt the police called? You have a video with them on it so the police can find them as well. REALLY!!!!!

The grammar in this article is absolutely appalling.

It’s wrong to refuse service based on race but goddamn, lay off the “AYO MAYNE MUFFUCKIN GAY YO IMA KNOCK DIS NIGGA.” Fucking idiots, both sides.

This doesn’t even show the whole story. Based on their behavior in the video I am sure they did something to illicit this response from the 7-11 employee. Regardless, to avoid trouble they should continue with the transaction. I agree with the previous comment, they are both idiots.

Alkaabi, I was thinking the same thing. However, the lady who purchase the chips for them was upset at their actions and threaten to call their corporate office. It also appears to be a long line so I doubt she just walked up there. I would probably say the kid brought the chips up after they purchase the groceries which still should not have erupted into what it did.

Amazed at how people assume there has to be more, which is fair, but in their belief that there has to be more, have decided that the more, somehow must exonerate the employees’ behavior. This belief is being held despite someone completely not involved in the situation expressing anger at the way they were being treated. Forget what the guys with the camera were saying, ask yourself what happened where everyone involved except the clerks were clearly offended with with the clerks behavior. Could you imagine if you were the guy on the tape and all the other customers of mixed race were upset at the way a clerk treated you and every person who saw the video later were saying you must have done something wrong. It somehow must be your fault if you are not being treated correctly. I don’t care if other people are upset and saying that the clerks are giving bad customer service, you have to be wrong. Sure the customer is always right, but when its you somehow it must be your fault. You could have done something as a customer to make them feel better and make them want to give you good service and offer to take your money in a transaction for a product they are selling.

Why do they sound so ignorant? First off Alexandria is an amazing city with endless opportunities. I’m black and grew up two blocks away from where this 7-11 is, that being said this video clearly does not show the entire situation. Alexandria is a diverse city where cultures mesh and coexist with minimal tension…I haven’t been to that 7-11 since the renovation but in my entire life I’ve never had an issue there…

I’m sorry but this is childish. So what if she refused him chips…it obviously isn’t because of race. No offense but people need to stop throwing out “the customer is always right” when most of the time its the customer making an ass of themselves in the store and making a big deal over nothing. The white lady doesn’t scare me either since calling 7eleven gets you as far as calling a cops office phone number…fucking no where. Maybe try being a human being to those who work in convenient stores since they have to deal with stupid people constantly.

Working at my dad’s stores for 5 years thought something that I’ll never forget. If people think they have better job then you, they’ll be arrogant dickfaces. once they find out your a manager, field consultant, the owner or the owner’s daughter who doesn’t take shit from any race, religion, age or additude THEN SAY HELLO to fake respect and shallow responses to every day aspects.

AND FINALLY a franchise owner and his employees CAN REFUSE a sale if the customer seems destructive and or agitated, threatens the employees for no damn reason and also if they announce they’re going to steal just because they can. Thr dumbass put the video thinking he will prove something but all its proving is he’s the one instigating the situation the whole time. Wake up people! its not always about you…think of others and remember you’re not better then person ringing up your chips or coffee. We’re all the same, give respect to those who give it to you but don’t let your kindness let dicks like these two ruin your day.

They took the chips because the young boy wanted them and the older lady purchased them for him. They knew it was unfair to punish a child and a good samaritan by refusing.

I’d like to claim I’m not justifying racism (had a friend who thought I was), I need more proof. There isnt enough evidence that she was refusing him for no reason or because of race expect for the guy saying it on video so how can you claim so much from so little video footage. All you see is a clerk not knowing what to do when someone is yelling at her what to do while she was trying to do her job the best way possible. What terms is this video any way racsit? Because one guys bitching and a white lady calling the clerks shamefull? I just don’t see how this Ethiopian lady is a racist if she’s refusing a sale from someone so agitated in the first place. Its one thing to record rascisim but haven’t you even considered maybe the rejection was enough of a reason to make a big deal out of nothing and try to claim that these people are stupid and are not selling his kids chips because of the color of his skin? Also according to 7 eleven rules and regulations, you can refuse the sale if the employee feels in any way uncomfortable with the situation. even if she was wrong, it was a mistake and I dont think she deserves the racism card for it at all. I think you should consider both sides before assuming whatever this video and article claim…plus I’ve had experiance as a clerk, manager and owner and I’ve dealt with it all in nova. i treat everyone equally but I dont let anyone talk to me in a way as if there isnt any consequence for rude ignorance. There’s one thing to claim rascisim and being racisit and I dont think this lady and her crew are racist at all.

Clearly it is not racism. I agree with everyone saying that there is not enough of the video to warrant the race card; also considering that the man at the beginning of the video is black and is getting the change back from the purchase he just made. I went to TC Williams where there are people so so rude and disrespectful for no apparent reason, just like it appears the people in this video are. Obnoxious and disrespectful.

This is stupid. I’m all against racism but I live not too far from that 711 and they have every kind of race going in and out. This has nothing to do with racism. I’d like to hear the full on story.

Other side of the “Story”. Far more reasonable than the racist claims being made. http://corp.7-eleven.com/corp/Statements
