Well THAT’S a novel idea!

If you’re poor and broke and homeless, especially around the holidays, there is one charity out there in Denver that wants to make damn sure you feel no pain in the process.

According to Page Six, a nonprofit in Denver called Cannabis Can hit the road with about a thousand joints, ready to hand out to the homeless.

And you can imagine all the happiness the people were left with.

But there was a reason for their charitable act that went far beyond putting a temporary solution on a problem. Cannabis Can used marijuana as a means to an end. They aim to raise awareness about the issue of homelessness.

According to the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative, who conducts an annual survey on homelessness in their community, as of January 2015, 6,130 individuals were experiencing homelessness in the seven county metro Denver area.

Nick Decenzo, founder of Cannabis Can, hopes to raise funds for the homeless this holiday season. And with those funds his group hopes to purchase RV’s so the people will be able to shower and have access to restrooms whenever they need it.

“’Cannabis can make a difference,’ is kind of what we’re standing for,” a stoked Dicenzo told the station. “Merry Christmas, Happy Cannamas — would you like some rolling papers?”

“A lot of the people we spoke with really were just like, ‘If I had regular access to a shower, and a haircut my life would be so much better. I’d have so much more opportunity,’” Dicenzo said.

“Spread the word, spread the cheer, to give back.”
