Some Kansas City area residents are outraged after a video was posted that appears to show two high school students molesting an underage girl. The girl appears to be unconscious during the sexual assault.

The video has seen been removed from Facebook, but not before screenshots were taken and shared with KCTV5 and police.

The Kansas City Police Department’s cyber crime unit and crimes against children detectives are investigating the allegations, Sgt. Kari Thompson of the Kansas City Police Department said Monday afternoon.

Thompson says a report was taken and no charges have been filed.

The report indicates that the girl, who didn’t have any clothes on from the waist down, was attacked between Saturday and Sunday. The teens met at a pool hall on Saturday and then went to a hotel where the video was taped.

A mutual friend of the girl and the boys went to police on Sunday afternoon after she saw the video on one of the boy’s Facebook feed.

A KCTV5 viewer said the video was posted over the weekend and showed a student in the Raytown school district molesting an unconscious girl while another student video taped the assault.

She said the boys sought likes but instead received outraged, which forced them to remove the video. The viewer said the boys have shared videos before of them taking advantage of girls while they were intoxicated.

Raytown police have received numerous calls from concerned residents, but a spokesman said the alleged crime did not occur in Raytown.

“It belongs to Kansas City,” Officer Evan Hartenstein said. “Kansas City is handling the case and handling the investigation.”

The boys involved are students in the Raytown School District.

Raytown administrators were unaware of the allegations before KCTV5 contacted a district spokeswoman Monday afternoon.

Cathy Allie, district spokesman, said school officials considered the allegations a serious issue and immediately contacted Raytown police to find out if there were anything they could do to assist their investigation. Raytown police in turn referred the district to Kansas City police.

“The Raytown School District has been made aware of accusations against two students in an off-campus incident,” the district said in its statement. “While we cannot control choices made by students outside school hours, we will cooperate to assist police in any way we can.”

There is no allegation that the attack took place on district property. Allie said the district would try to determine the girl’s identity and provide assistance as appropriate if she turns out to be a district student.

A teen girl posted on Facebook that she is the person in the video. She said she has spoken to police and wants her attackers prosecuted.

Many online viewers and Raytown students are calling for arrests and condemning the teen boys for violating the girl physically and posting the video online.

According to the police report, the person who reported the video was unable to show the entire video to police because it had been removed, but did share screenshots.
