Stories like these are so important to report, read, and share with others. This is to inform parents to trust NO ONE.

This story is so heartbreaking, I cried and prayed for the innocent three-year old after reading the horrific details. Parents really need to be careful who they let around their kids.

The Sun-Sentinel Reports

After arriving to pick up his girlfriend with the battered, lifeless body of her 3-year-old son slumped unrestrained in a car seat behind him, Corey Gordon threatened to drive into a canal in a show of remorse, investigators said.

Instead, with girlfriend Chantel Haye growing increasingly frantic as she realized her son was dead, Gordon drove slowly from Boca Raton to a Coral Springs hospital where Khyese Anthony Coach was pronounced dead about 5 p.m. Monday

Gordon left mother and child at Broward Health Coral Springs and drove off, Broward Sheriff’s detectives said.

After a 12-hour manhunt, Gordon, 28, was arrested Tuesday night when he was spotted with his mother and sister in a car in Lauderhill. Taken into custody by BSO’s SWAT/fugitive unit without incident, Gordon was charged with first degree murder.

In his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon, Broward Judge John “Jay” Hurley ordered Gordon held without bond.

The Broward County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Khyese and ruled his death a homicide, said Keyla Concepción, a Broward Sheriff’s spokeswoman. Authorities are not releasing the cause of death at this time, she said.

Gordon has been arrested three times in Florida, including once in 2009 on a battery charge, records show.

He was also listed as a suspect in an open investigation of an alleged battery on the child dated Jan. 21, according to BSO’s Child Protective investigators.“I trusted him,” Haye, 20, said Tuesday afternoon at her Sunrise apartment. “My son called him daddy. I’m hurt and confused.”

Gordon had agreed to take care of Khyese so his mother could begin a new job at a Boca Raton telemarketing firm, Haye said.

Gordon picked up Haye and her son around 5:30 a.m. from an apartment in the 2800 block of Northwest 60th Avenue, where the two live with Haye’s mother, sister and nephew.

Gordon dropped off Haye at work and then took the child to his sister’s house in North Lauderdale, where Gordon lives, Haye said. During her first break at 9:11 a.m., Haye called Gordon to check in.

He was furious because Khyese had had a bowel movement in his pants and it had leaked out of the diaper and onto the sister’s furniture, Haye said. The two did not talk again until 3:45 p.m. when Gordon picked her up from work.

When Haye walked toward Gordon’s car after work, she noticed he seemed unsettled.“There were tears in his eyes,” Haye said. “His eyes were watering. I said, ‘What’s wrong?’”

Gordon didn’t answer, so Haye climbed into the front seat, she said. Her son was in the car seat in the back, and at first, Haye thought he was sleeping.“But when I looked more closely at him I saw bruises on his face, his temples, his nose,” Haye said. “I kept saying, ‘What happened to his face?’”

Gordon told her the boy was sleeping and had thrown up, and that he thought the boy was sick, Haye said.”I jumped into the back seat,” Haye said. “His eyes were not open. He was not buckled in. I saw bruises on his stomach.”

The boy’s stomach was distended and he was cold to the touch, she said.“His arm was stiff — it was so unreal,” she said. “I thought it would break.”

Haye demanded that Gordon rush them to the hospital.“I was telling him, hitting his head, go to the hospital, and he continued to drive slowly,” she said. “I didn’t know what to do.”

When Haye continued to question him, Gordon admitted that he slapped the boy and “boxed” him, detectives said. He also said Khyese fell down the stairs.

That’s when Gordon said, “I’m going to jail,” but he wouldn’t say what for, Haye said.

According to detectives, Gordon also said, “What are we going to do? What are you going to tell them at the hospital?”

was then that Gordon threatened to drive into a canal.

Gordon drove so slowly, Haye said, that it took them an hour to go from Boca Raton to Broward Health Coral Springs, the same hospital where Khyese was born, Haye said.

Asked why they did not take Khyese to a Boca Raton hospital, Haye told authorities they did not know of any, according to a Department of Children and Families incident report.

Gordon dropped Haye and her only child at the side of the hospital and drove off.

Haye ran inside with her son in her arms. Nurses saw the toddler and called a code blue, signifying cardiac arrest, Haye said.

Hospital staff observed several injuries to the child, including bruising over most of the body, blood in his diaper, and a possible anal tear, detective suggested the child was sexual assaulted as well. He also showed signs of blunt force trauma to both sides of his head, they said.

Medical staff also reported that Khyese’s temperature on arrival was so low that they estimated he had been dead “for at least four hours,” according to the DCF report.

“I was in denial,” Haye said. “I didn’t know he was fully gone.”

The boy’s grandmother Glenda Haye said Gordon had hit Khyese before.

On Saturday, the Haye family had celebrated Khyese’s birthday with a breakfast at Golden Corral, Chantel Haye said. She said her son loved to eat and she had loaded him up with marshmallows from the chocolate fountain.“You should’ve seen his face,” she said. “He was so bright with happiness.”
