CHICAGO (May 3, 2016)—Responding to fan demand for more music, ground-breaking DJ/production collective The Chosen Few DJs today announced details of its inaugural Chosen Few DJs Music Festival, July 2-3, 2016 in Jackson Park. Originally called the “Chosen Few Old School Reunion Picnic”—and nicknamed the “Woodstock of House Music” for its family reunion vibe—the event began in 1990 as a small gathering of friends that has grown to draw more than 40,000 fans each year, making it one of the world’s oldest and largest events dedicated to house music.

For the first time, the event will cover two days in Jackson Park, with its traditional picnic format on Saturday, and a special celebration of soul music planned for Sunday.

“For years, guests have been asking for more music and more time, so we’re delighted to expand into a full-blown festival, celebrating so much of what’s great about our city,” says Wayne Williams, founder, The Chosen Few DJs. “Nothing is more Chicago than house music, and we’re excited to showcase this homegrown sound all across the city, from Daley Plaza to Jackson Park to the home of our world champion baseball team, the White Sox.”
