Beastie Boys’ iconic Licensed To Ill album officially went diamond. RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) has Licensed To Ill achieving diamond status on March 4, 2015. Licensed To Ill is the debut album of Michael “Mike D” Diamond, Adam “MCA” Yauch and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz. They join Outkast, Eminem, 2Pac, MC Hammer and The Notorious B.I.G. as the only rap albums to achieve that feat.

Earlier this year, the group won a suit against Monster Energy drinks for copyright infringement stemming from a 2012 ad that ran primarily online. The won $1.7 million. The clip was a recap of a Canadian snowboarding competition featuring five Beasties songs — “Sabotage,” “Pass the Mic,” “Make Some Noise,” “So What’cha Want” and “Looking Down the Barrel Of a Gun”—none of which had been licensed by the company.

In January it was also reported that Beastie Boys group is trying to get another $2.4 million more from Monster adding they refused to engage in good-faith negotiations and used other tactics to deliberately drive up the cost of litigation. In other news, the video for 2011′s Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, with contributions from Nas on the standout “Too Many Rappers” was released. The clip was directed by Roman Coppola, who was nominated for an Academy Award for writing We Anderson’s 2012 film Moonrise Kingdom.
