$114K Raised In A Campaign To Purchase A New Car For Man Who Walks 21 Miles A Day To Get To Work

When was the last time you complained about your car? Well, the James Robertson story may make you think twice next time you do.  James walks 21 miles to work and back Monday through Friday making $10.55 at Schain Mold & Engineering’s factory. Ten years ago his 1988 Honda Accord quit on him and  he has walked and taken the bus part of the way to work ever since.

The 56-year-old was featured in the Sunday edition of  the Detroit Free Press and Evan Leedy, a Wayne State University student was inspired by the story. He started a crowd-funding campaign to help raise money for a car for Robertson with a goal of raising $5000 and as of tonight Monday (Feb. 2)  donations have gotten up to more than $114,000 with 3,798 people who donated. Now, he’s looking to buy a car and starting at sites like https://bluffusedcarscolumbiasc.com/inventory/.

“At the beginning, my goal was just $5,000. I just wanted to get him a car to get back and forth to work, but thanks to everyone’s generous donations, this has skyrocketed into more than just a car. I want to thank everyone for their continued donations. Every penny will help James in any way that he needs it,”Leedy says on the GoFundMe site.
