One of Ramonski Luv’s favorite sayings that he will post frequently on his Facebook account is “LET’S GO TO WORK!” The veteran radio personality will be doing just that next month as he will return to Chicago radio and begin his new job as nighttime host on WSRB-FM/Soul 106.3.

According to sources, Ramonski Luv has signed up with Crawford Broadcasting and will soon be heard weeknights from 6:00pm-10:00pm on Soul 106.3. This will begin on Wednesday, December 3rd.

Word that Crawford Broadcasting was looking at hiring Luv was first exclusively revealed here on this website in August.

Ramonski Luv, whose true name is Raymond Wade III, graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 1984 and immediately began working in radio. He has spent his entire 30-year radio career in Chicago, much of which has been with Clear Channel Radio (now called iHeartMedia). He worked as a producer for numerous hosts at WGCI-FM/107.5WGCI, including Doug Banks, which is where he picked up the nickname of Ramonski Luv. In the 1980s, he also created and hosted what is being called as Chicago’s first all-rap show, “Rap Down.” From there, he went on to host and co-host numerous other shows on WGCI-FM, and since 2000, on WVAZ-FM/V103.

Luv was part of the #1 rated nighttime program, V103’s “The Real Show,” which he had long co-hosted with his on-air partner Joe Soto. The duo had celebrated their 10th anniversary together this past April.

After being shockingly and abruptly released from WVAZ-FM by Clear Channel/iHeartMedia near the start of July, Luv has been seeking his next opportunity. Crawford quickly began talks with Luv to bring him to their station.

This year, WSRB-FM has done a great deal of work to strengthen the station, making it an even bigger threat to the top-rated WVAZ-FM.

In March, WSRB-FM added Mike Love, the former WGCI-FM personality, to be its live and local afternoon star, replacing a syndicated show. In September, WSRB-FM named former WGCI-FM and WVAZ-FM host Sundance as its newest midday host.

WSRB-FM has been an Adult Urban Contemporary format since September 2003, when it adopted its current call letters (representing Soul, Rhythm and Blues). Except for nine months in 2003/2004, where it added talk shows during the weekday daylight hours, it has not altered its direction. The station is licensed to south suburban Lansing. That is also where the WSRB-FM transmitter is located, broadcasting at 4,100 watts. That signal easily covers about two-thirds of Chicago, the south suburbs, and northwest Indiana.
