Two People Are Dead As Shots Ring Out On Campus In Central Michigan University Dorm Suspect At Large

Michigan State Police has confirmed two people are dead after a shooting on campus at Central Michigan University.

Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant sent out an alert to off possible shots fired on campus, according to the university newspaper and students.

Around 10:15 a.m., MSP said that two people were killed in the shooting. MSP wouldn’t say at this time if anyone else was injured.

The suspect is still out there at this time, police say. Authorities are describing the suspect as a black man wearing mustard yellow jeans and a blue hoodie.

Authorities haven’t said if the suspect is a student, or if the victims were students.

According to Central Michigan Life, CMU’s student-operated media company, the incident was reported just after 9:00 a.m. on the fourth floor of Campbell Hall, a residence hall.

Everyone on campus has been advised to shelter in place — and to call 911 if you see something suspicious.

CMU confirmed the report and said that the suspect is still at large and police urge everyone to take shelter.

Central Michigan is in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, about 155 miles northwest of Detroit. More than 20,000 students are at the Mt. Pleasant campus.
