Suffolk County police have arrested three people they believe are involved in a series of car break-ins and robberies targeting vehicles parked at gyms, a church and a cemetery.
The incidents, nearly three dozen of them, occurred from November 30, 2014 through January 14, 2015.
Authorities say 26-year-old Steven Glover, 20-year-old Sierra Green and 23-year-old Inesha Stephan broke into 11 vehicles at St. Charles Cemetery in East Farmingdale while people were visiting graves on several different dates. They also allegedly broke into vehicles at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bay Shore.
Police say they also targeted Retro Fitness in Deer Park, Planet Fitness in Melville, Eastern Athletic Club in Melville, Gold’s Gym in Smithtown, LA Fitness in Patchogue, Bally Total Fitness in Bay Shore and Lucille Roberts in Bay Shore.
The suspects often broke a window in the vehicle when they saw pocketbooks or property that was visible from the outside.
Glover was charged with 33 counts of grand larceny and for a parole violation. Green faces 26 counts of grand larceny and Stephan five counts
