Michael Tigue, 15, faces first-degree murder charges and told authorities he planned the attack, according to Assistant State’s Attorney Shawn Abraham.

Tigue, of the 2800 block of Chayes Park Drive in Flossmoor, was ordered held in lieu of $2 million bail Sunday in bond court.

Steven Tigue, 25, had just returned to the family home early Friday when his younger brother attacked him with a golf club, Abraham said Sunday. Steven Tigue was able to wrest the club away from his little brother, but then Michael Tigue produced a steak knife and stabbed him repeatedly, according to Abraham.

Police were called to the home at about 1 a.m. Friday and Steven Tigue was pronounced dead at 1:38 a.m. at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office determined he died from multiple stab wounds and ruled his death a homicide following an autopsy.

Abraham said Michael Tigue has no criminal background.

Police said it was Flossmoor’s first homicide in more than 30 years.
