Puppy Bowl filmed inside a miniature “stadium” and only puppies between 12 and 21 weeks old participate on the show due to height and weight limits and the size of the stadium. Several toys are placed inside the “stadium” usually the toys that toys which make the loudest noise or which are sausage-shaped get the most attention. To entice the puppies to lick the camera peanut butter is smeared around edge of the camera lenses. Puppy touchdowns are scored when the puppy drags the football shaped toys into the end zone. Throughout the game play by play commentary can be heard and football terms are used mimic the rules of professional football, including paws interference (pass interference), rough sides (offsides), and dog-collar tackle (horse-collar tackle) and excessive horseplay known as “unnecessary rrruff-ness”. Other unique “penalties” are also called like howling, illegal bathing (playing in the water bowl), napping on the field, and premature watering of the lawn (urination)
Fans of the show can expect to see all the cutest dogs to be playing around the field, the Puppy Bowl Penguin Cheerleaders will take the field and World Renowned Musician Keyboard Cat playing his rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven” during the Kitty Halftime Show. Viewing from above the stadium in the Twizzler Blimp manned by the hamsters and Meep the Cockatiel will be “tweeting” commentary again this year.

Puppy Bowl IX in 2013 was the first time Animal Planet allowed commercial branding on the show, during that show the stadium was referred to as Geico Puppy Bowl Stadium, for 2014 3 additional commercial advertisers. Puppy Bowl X is most certainly going to be the best edition of the yearly series. As a pet owner it is refreshing to know that all the precious pups and cool kittens get adopted into permanent homes. All of the animals except the penguins are adoptable and were provided by the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. Check out the links for the Puppy Bowl X starting lineups…all together now……awwwwwww!!!!
