Elijah Moore, a 41-year-old father of three, was one of two men killed in a shooting outside Dolphin Chicago, a club on the Northwest Side. A third man was wounded in the shooting.

Moore’s mother, Janice, received a call in the middle of the night from a family friend who said her son had been fatally shot. Police confirmed to her at the scene that Moore was one of the victims killed.

Moore’s family said he had two sons, ages 20 and 22, and a seven year-old daughter.

Investigators said a fight broke out inside Dolphin Chicago near Ashland and Webster.

“All of a sudden we see a fight. Then we see the security trying to break it up, kick all the people outside, kick all the people that were fighting outside,” said D. Kelly, a witness.

After the three victims walked outside around 3 a.m. Monday, someone opened fire.

“After that we just heard boom boom boom boom. Hit the floor. Everybody in the club hit the floor,” Kelly said.

Police said Moore died of a gunshot wound to the chest. A 34-year-old man was shot several times and died of his injuries. A 26-year-old man was shot in the wrist and taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital.

“He’s not the type of guy that would get into it with anybody. He’s quiet. He’s not likely to get into it with anybody, about anything. He’s very quiet. He’s a quiet person,” said Mary Tate, Moore’s relative.

It’s unclear if the gunman was on foot or in a car. Police are looking into whether the victims were targeted.

No one is in custody. Area North detectives are investigating.
