Pregnant Chicago Woman Allegedly Punched In Stomach By Chicago Cop

It’s an unfathomable act of aggression.

A Chicago cop has been accused of punching a pregnant woman in the stomach, and it was reportedly caught on camera.

And it’s not only the punch, but what led up to it that shows the deep rift between some members of the African American community and police officers.

The woman told FOX 32 that what sparked the punch was when she and others laughed at the officer after a suspected drug dealer was able to run from the cops and get away.

But if punching a pregnant woman wasn’t bad enough, the white officer then allegedly went on a racist tirade.

“As I got ready to walk in my building he punched me on my right side as hard as he can,” said Nicola Robinson.

Robinson is eight months pregnant, and she showed us where the plain clothes officer punched her after she said he first shoved her while she was holding her 1-year-old son.

She then described the racist rant that followed.

“After he punched me, he presumed to say ‘you black b*tch, you better be glad I didn’t hit you hard enough to make you lose your f***kin’ baby,” Robinson said.

The incident happened in the 5100 block of West Washington at about 5:30 Friday night.

Robinson was standing out front with her kids when three cops ran by chasing a man. They couldn’t catch him, so Robinson and others laughed at the officers.

The apartment buildings have several security cameras and Robinson said a woman with the management company told her the video clearly shows the officer punching her.

Management did not return FOX 32’s repeated calls and texts about the video.

FOX 32: Do you think the police officer even realized there was a camera up there?

“Not until after I had told him. Then that’s when the attitude about him started changing, and he got real quiet, you could tell in his face that he knew that ‘man I have f*cked, I have messed up,” Robinson said.

The assault sent Robinson into premature labor. She spent five hours at West Suburban Hospital under observation, before she was cleared to go home.

“I saw him punch her with his right hand, he punched her right in her right side,” said Robinson’s sister Monique Dickerson.

Dickerson said she also heard the officers racist rant, and saw the reaction of the other cops on the scene.

“The other two officers who was with him were standing there and they’re looking like, what are you doing, but I guess they didn’t want to say anything,” Dickerson added.

The Independent Police Review Authority is now investigating.

Chicago police released a statement calling the allegations “very disturbing,” and saying the department has zero tolerance for such, quote, “abhorrent behavior.”

The officer who has not been identified could be subject to disciplinary action even before the investigation is done.
