At a New Jersey day care on Monday, 48 glassine envelopes of heroin were found stuffed inside a 2-year-old’s jacket pocket, police say.

The toddler’s father, Phillip Young, 27, had dropped her off at the day care that morning. He was arrested Tuesday for endangering the welfare of a child and is currently behind held on $85,000 bail, the New York Daily News reports.

A day care worker at Michael’s Energy Factory, located in Paterson, N.J., immediately notified authorities after making the startling discovery, per the Daily News.

The facility apparently did not inform other children’s parents of the incident, according to NBC New York.

“My daughter sees something on the floor, puts it in her mouth thinking it’s candy — same thing could have happened here,” Dulce Ibanez, a parent of a child at the day care, told the outlet.

The Daily News reports that police do not believe the toddler was aware of the drugs. Police also said no other children came into contact with the drugs, multiple outlets report.
