Meet The Browns Actors David And Tamela Mann To Have Their Own Reality Show On BET

On camera, David and Tamela Mann are best known as The Browns—two characters created by Tyler Perry in a touring play, where David plays Leroy Brown, the father of Tamela’s character Cora.

In real life, the couple is happily married with children and two of the most humble, down-to-earth people you’ll ever meet.

Now the former members of Kirk Franklin & The Family are ready to let viewers really see the people behind the characters that starred in both the film and TV series called “Meet The Browns.”

The Dallas-based couple has landed a deal with BET for a new reality series, “Meet The Manns,” that will follow the lives of them, their five children, eight grandchildren and their extended relatives who all live nearby.

“We’re excited to announce our new television home is with BET,” said David and Tamela said in a joint statement. “BET is a great fit for the Mann brand and the perfect place for this new show. There’ll also be some news and reveals we’re saving to share on the show – you’ll have to tune in to find out what’s in store.”

“Meet The Manns” is already is production and is slated to premiere on BET in 2015.

Breakout stars from Perry’s stable of theater actors, The Mann’s have gone on to have tremendous success in their own right.

David is a touring comedian who has appeared in films like “Madea Goes to Jail,” “Madea’s Big Happy Family,” “In the Meantime” and “The Ultimate Life.”

His wife, Tamela is fresh off a record-breaking gospel single ‘Take Me To The King,’ and a chart-topping CD, “Best Days.”  She’s also starred in films like “Sparkle,” “Madea Goes to Jail,” “Madea’s Big Happy Family,” and “Diary of a Mad Black Woman.”
