MC Lyte Dubbed A “Female Ground Breaker” And Her Hip Hop Sisters Foundation Surprises A Young Man With $50,000 Scholarship To Dillard University

Lana “MC Lyte” Moorer is one of the few celebrities who has been able to reinvented themselves and remained relevant throughout their entire career.  Being the first female MC in the male dominated world of hip hop, MC Lyte’s tenacity, determination and unique style of rapping paved the way and set the standards by which female MCs to follow her would strive to be like.  She was recognized by Steve Harvey as a female Ground Breaker on the Steve Harvey Show because of her ability to continuously grow and be an advocate for change.

In addition to MC Lyte’ s phenomenal musical career, she has been changing lives through her foundation Hip Hop Sisters which its focus promotes positive images of women of ethnic diversity.  The foundation in the process of fulfilling its mission also provides educational scholarships.  Education is the focal point of growth and no one knows that better than MC Lyte and the Hip Hop Sisters Foundation has already given out over $500,000 in scholarship money to deserving students.  On October 21, 2015, MC Lyte will present a $50,000 scholarship to young man whose dream is to go to New Orleans.  Well Hip Hop Sisters made his dream become a reality.  Check it out:
