Man Walks Up To Father Allegedly After An Argument & Shoots His 10-Month Old Baby In The Head Killing Him

There was nothing strange about Joshua Levy’s day. It was around 1:30 p.m. when he was returning home after work to his apartment complex in Houston. Suddenly, a young man ran up to his driver’s side window screaming, “Help me!” Levy saw that he was holding a bleeding child, so he assumed that there was a possible traffic accident and the child was hurt.

Just minutes before, a 22-year-old father was out with his 10-month-old son, Messiah Marshall, teaching him how to walk when three men appeared and walked up to him. Within seconds one of the men pulled out a gun and began shooting at the father who had his son in his arms. The frightened man turned to run, but while the bullets missed the dad, but little Messiah was shot in the head.

The truth was much, much worse.

According to NY Daily News:
Panicked, he looked for help and that’s when he saw Levy’s car. Not knowing immediately what to do, Levy said he remembered seeing a Harris County constable at a Valero gas station down just a block away. He drove the father and son down the street for help.

“I hoped he (the constable) was still there. I didn’t know where else to take him,” Levy said. “I saw him (the father) walking around with the baby – basically dead in his arms.”

Emergency vehicles were called to the scene but the boy was already dead when they arrived. Detectives are trying to piece together whether or not this was a targeted attack on the father. He claims he didn’t recognize the shooter or the other two men with him.
Police canvassed the neighborhood looking for any and every clue they could that would point them in the right direction to identifying these killers. Now, 24-year-old Jared Alexander Balogun sits in jail on charges of capital murder after he admitted to his role in the shooting when he was arrested on unrelated assault charges. His accomplices are still at large and police gather the shooting was due to an argument the men had with Messiah’s father.
The family started a GoFundMe account to help the family with the funeral arrangements. As people became familiar with the story, donations started pouring in and they were able to raise $12,600.

“That’s his first son, that was his first born, that’s his first time being a father. The pain is with him and my daughter,” said the victim’s grandmother Jawan Wilson said.

Just a young man out here trying to be a good father and this tragedy happens over a possible argument? That’s not worth the life of this little baby.
