So much for those rumors alleging Jennifer Hudson dumped fiancé David Otunga.
The Oscar and Grammy winner recently stopped by “The Wendy Williams Show” to promote her new album, JHUD. Wendy Williams wasted no time asking about the elephant in the room: Why the six-year engagement and when is the wedding?
Hudson was wearing her engagement ring. Yes, she will get married. And no, she’s not going to rush it to make other people happy.
“Well, the ring is still there and we will get married one day, but again, my thing is, once I get married I don’t believe in divorce,” she told the talk show host. “And so when I get married, it’s for good. We want to be completely sure we’re together, we’re happy and when it’s time.”
Williams responded, “You have a baby and you’ve been together forever! And hello, he’s got a Harvard degree. Who wouldn’t want to stay?”
“But I think that’s the key, take baby steps,” Hudson answered. “That’s my definition of baby steps, baby. You ain’t gotta understand it.”
Williams agreed to let it go since J. Hud was obviously not revealing any wedding date on the show. The R&B singer briefly touched on her fiancé also having a ring even though the two aren’t married.
“Well, he wanted one. He said he needed everybody to know that he was taken as well. After he gave me my ring, for his birthday I gave him his,” she said.
Otunga and Hudson have a five-year-old son.
