Despite claiming otherwise, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush’s campaign is doing poorly. The campaign is doing so bad that its chief operating officer recently announced her departure from the campaign.

Christine Ciccone, the campaign chief, announced her departure from the campaign about a week after Bush announced that he will be slashing campaign salaries by 40 percent. The salary cuts happened when donations slowed down due to Bush’s failing poll numbers.

“We are grateful to have had Christine on the team, we respect her immensely,” Bush spokesman Tim Miller said.

Ciccone was making $12,000 a month to manage Bush’s campaign, which equals a $144,000 annual salary. When news outlets contacted Ciccone, she said “I’ve got no comment. I’ve just go to go.”

Bush’s campaign is a micro-signifier of Republican policy altogether. When business, in this case the campaign, fails, they cut salaries and jobs to keep themselves afloat instead of augmenting the model to save employees.
