Janet Jackson Starts Own Record Label "Rhythm Nation"

There have been many stars throughout the years who have made a lasting impression on music lovers, but none have been as unique as Janet Jackson. She has brought her realness, individuality and creativity to everything she does no matter what it has been, which has been a little bit of everything.

Not only has she built a career as a singer, but she conquered the world of acting as well. It has been seven years since she released an album, so many were excited to hear that she will be working on a new album. Shortly after she let the world know her plans to release a 10th album, the 49-year old made an announcement about another venture of hers that may be more exciting than news of the new album.

Jackson has decided to take matters into her own hands and launch a record label, which will be called Rhythm Nation and will be under BMG. In fact, the new album that she plans to release will be under this new label of hers. Unlike other labels, artists under Rhythm Nation will have full ownership of their albums. Artist will also get full oversight of revenues and costs. Though her plan is not very traditional, BMG CEO Hartig Masuch is in full support of the singer.

In a statement, Masuch said, “Janet is not just a supreme artist, she is a unique cultural force whose work resonates around the world. It is an honor that she has chosen BMG to release her long-awaited new album. We look forward to collaborating with her across every platform.”

This yet another huge accomplishment for Jackson, who has been in the music industry for more than twenty years. She has often marched to the beast of her own drum, so it was only a matter of time until she started her own label. Not only to fans get to look forward to Jackson’s new album, but they can look forward to the music from the many artist she is sure to recruit for Rhythm Nation.

Do you think its a smart move for Jackson to launch her own record label?
