A Florida man was arrested for fatally shooting his pregnant wife and killing one of his unborn twin sons on Thursday night, authorities said.

The second baby boy miraculously survived, but was in critical condition early Friday.

Michael Boyce allegedly shot his wife, Alexis Boyce — who was eight months pregnant — inside the Orlando apartment they shared with the woman’s parents, WESH-TV reported.

The victim’s father called police after he heard a gunshot in the living room, Sgt. Mike Ruggiero of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office told reporters.

Emergency workers arrived moments later and rushed the bleeding woman to a hospital, but she could not be saved.

One of the twin boys she was carrying was later pronounced dead, but the second child survived and was being treated at a neonatal intensive care unit at Winnie Palmer Hospital.

Investigators did not immediately find any history of abuse with the couple, who had been married about a year.

Boyce initially told police that his wife killed herself, but later admitted that he fired the fatal shot. He claimed the shooting was accidental, Ruggiero said.
