One woman died and another was wounded in a shooting Wednesday night outside Willowbrook Mall in northwest Houston.

The shooting happened about 7:30 p.m. in the mall parking lot at 7925 FM 1960, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said officers were dispatched to respond to an assault. They found a woman and her grown daughter were shot as they sat inside a truck.

The older woman, the passenger, died at the scene. Her daughter, the driver, was shot in the head. She was rushed to Memorial Hermann-The Texas Medical Center. Her condition were not released.

Police said it was unclear what led to the gunfire or who pulled the trigger.
