Houston Rapper “Doughbeezy” Pistol Whipped During Home Invasion

HOUSTON (FOX 26) – A Houston rapper is lucky to be alive tonight after he says he stared down the barrel of a gun and was pistol whipped.

Tai Carr, known to fans by the stage name Doughbeezy, says he was attacked when he went to a friend’s house in the Houston Heights on Tuesday night.

Houston police say Doughbeezy walked right into the middle of a home invasion.

Carr posted on Instagram after he was attacked that he made his way to his vehicle and grabbed a gun out of the trunk. He ended his story there, but police say a victim, who they did not positively identify as Doughbeezy, took a gun out of a truck and shot and killed one of the home invaders.

“I definitely see Doughbeezy as a hero,” said Houston-based and nationally-recognized rapper Paul Wall during an interview with FOX 26 News. Wall also considers Doughbeezy a friend.

A representative for Doughbeezy says that the rapper will not be doing any interviews but he is recovering at home. That representative also says Doughbeezy and his attorney will talk when it is necessary.

A spokesperson for the Houston Police Department says the case will go before a Harris County grand jury as a result of the deadly shooting.

Police took one man, identified as 23-year-old Marquez Romero Heckard, into custody at a nearby Wendy’s restaurant.
