Health Alert: West Nile Virus Confirmed In Illinois’ Will County


 

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. – A batch of mosquitoes in Bolingbrook has tested positive for West Nile virus.

This is the first confirmed detection of the virus in Will County this year.

The virus has already been confirmed in batches of mosquitoes in Cook, DuPage and Kane counties.

Last year, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 44 human cases of West Nile virus statewide and four deaths.

Most people who contract the virus do not experience any symptoms, but about 20% of people experience fevers, headaches or body aches. The virus can also cause meningitis, encephalitis and in some cases death.
