Reality TV star Dog the Bounty Hunter has announced he intends to go after the alleged attacker of porn star Christy Mack.
Mack was seriously injured in an assault – which she claims was at the hands of her former boyfriend mixed martial arts fighter Jon Koppenhaver – at her Las Vegas home on Friday.
Koppenhaver, whose ring name is War Machine, had been given until 7pm on Tuesday to surrender to police.
Ahead of the deadline, Dog, or Duane Chapman, tweeted: “War Machine YOU HAVE 6 HOURS LEFT !!SEE YOU SOON!!”
Chapman, who heads up a crime-fighting team based in Hawaii, then began appealing for information on War Machine’s whereabouts.
Come the deadline, he simply wrote: “Time is up! BEWARE OF THE DOG…”
The famous bounty hunter became involved in the matter after he was contacted directly via a member of Mack’s family, TMZ reports.
On Monday Mack tweeted pictures of her injuries and gave an account of what occurred.
She claimed Koppenhaver arrived at her house on Friday, where he found her with one other “fully clothed and unarmed” person in her Las Vegas home.
“I have no recollection of how many times I was hit, I just know that my injuries resulted from my beating.
“My injuries include 18 broken bones around my eyes, my nose is broken in 2 places, I am missing teeth and several are broken. I am unable to chew, or see out of my left eye.
Mack, who says Koppenhaver broke up with her in May, added: “I also attained several lesions from a knife he got from my kitchen. He pushed the knife in me in some areas such as my hand, ear, and head. He also sawed off much of my hair with this dull knife.
“I believed I was going to die. He has beaten me many time before, but never this badly.”
Mack also claims Koppenhaver attempted to rape her but was unable to carry out the act.
She was able to run out the house, naked and bloody, to neighbours who took her to hospital.
Meanwhile the fighter has apparently been tweeting from his verified account since the incident.
On Monday he wrote: “The cops will never give me fair play, never believe me. Still deciding what to do but at the end of the day it’s all just heart breaking.”
He has not responded to Dog’s tweets.
The Las Vegas Review Journal writes Koppenhaver was arrested on a felony charge of domestic violence with strangulation, which was dismissed, and a misdemeanour charge of domestic violence with battery in 2009.
Koppenhaver pleaded guilty to the misdemeanour charge and was ordered to complete a course of counselling, it reports.
