HOUSTON,TX(KRIV)–It was at one post office in southwest Houston that the unthinkable happened.
“Why did you do this? Do you not have a little bit of kindness in your heart?,” asks Omar Malacara, who was saddened by the news.
A 2-month-old baby was found abandoned in a car seat in the main lobby. Next to him, an extra diaper with the name “Jesse” written on it, a pacifier, a bottled water, and some baby formula.
“That is unforgivable,” adds Malacara. If they are caught they dont’ even deserve that a lawyer defend them.”
After Child Protective Services released a photo of the baby on Wednesday afternoon, itquickly started circulating on social media. That’s when Glen Williams got a knock at his door.
“The lady knocked on the door and she had the picture of the report and I saw that was my child,” says Glen Williams, father of the infant who was abandoned.
Williams knew right away it was his son, by the green little outfit he was wearing.
“I recognized him himself, and the clothes he had on because I bought them for him,” said Williams.
Williams was not married with the baby’s mother and they had recently broken up. When he recognized his son, he called police who then told him to call CPS and so began the legal runaround until FOX 26 intervened.
CPS tells FOX 26 that the child was wearing a wet, dirty onesie, but had no signs of being malnourished or abused, a relief for family members who just wanted to know if the child was safe..
The little boy’s name is actually Glen Williams Jr,, FOX 26 has learned. He spent Wednesday night at a foster home and his father will have the opportunity the claim his son during a scheduled court appearance on Thursday morning.
