A convicted sex offender who won $10 million playing a scratch-off lottery game in 2008 has been arrested on child sex abuse charges.

Daniel Snay, 62, pleaded not guilty Monday at his arraignment. He is accused of sexually assaulting a boy over a span of several years, beginning when the child was only 10 years old, according to NBC10.

Snay was already a Level-3 sex offender with six convictions for indecent assault and battery when he scratched his way to $10 million from the Massachusetts state lottery in 2008, according to a Telegraph and Gazette story from that year. Snay won his prize, which pays out $500,000 a year over 20 years, on a $20 game ticket at a Cumberland Farms store in Hopedale.

The alleged victim approached Uxbridge police on Wednesday. He claimed that Snay was a family friend who would sometimes babysit him.

According to the Boston Herald:

The teen said he often slept over in Snay’s camper and the two would share a bed.He said the two would engage in sexual activity while watching porno films.

“Dan talked me into thinking it was a good thing and he told me he would buy me something the next day,” the teen alleged.

Snay was held on $5 million bail. He is charged with indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14, reckless endangerment of a child, enticement of a child and dissemination of pornography to a minor, according to MassLive.com.
