When a man held up a Radio Shack in Hyde Park earlier this month, the shop’s employees stashed a GPS in his bag along with handfuls of electronics, according to county prosecutors.

Antonio James, 20, of the 9200 block of South Dobson Avenue, was arrested Monday night while driving a vehicle with no plates after police officers identified him as the man suspected of robbing an East 53rd Street RadioShack at gunpoint on March 4.

According to court records, James demanded two store employees fill his bag with electronic devices, but didn’t realize they also put a GPS tracking device in his bag. Police were able to use the GPS to track the items down to the home of a relative of James, and they recovered the gun, according to county prosecutors.

One of the store employees identified James from a photo. James was brought to the Cook County Criminal Courthouse on Wednesday afternoon and ordered held in lieu of $350,000 bond..
